The Material
Robust stone mineral wool is a key component inβ¨fire-resilient buildings as its fibres are non-combustible and can resist temperatures above 1,000Β°C.
As a dense and abrasive material, developing processes that allow us to blow the product to complete full fill passive fire barriers whilst guaranteeing a quality installation, has been a forensic challenge.
In addition to the fire mitigation benefits, the Red-Stopβ’ system also provides:
- A cost-effective solution in comparison to alternative options
- Quick, uncomplicated, and seamless timescales from initial enquiry to installation, due to the streamlined Redplug engagement process
- A considerable rate of installation in comparison to brick removal and reinstatement, allowing significant reductions in project programs and disruption to the local area while improving the residents' journey. Typical savings in programming and costs vary between 80% - 400% subject to the scale of the building, requiring remediation
- A solution to local councilsβ reticence surrounding the massive disruption caused by major remediation works with road closures, increased volumes of traffic and long timescales associated with these projects
- A non-invasive system, the need for decanting of properties is typically unnecessary
- The Red-Stopβ’ system is clean, efficient, and inert in the environment. Both the material and the packaging are 100% recyclable. The brick removal alternative would use a huge number of resources; firstly, through the removal and disposal process, and secondly, through the manufacturing and resourcing of new bricks and the labour to undertake the works
- Hygrophobic and settlement modelling in addition to condensation risk analysis and improved u values will typically show an increase in overall building performance, resulting in reduced condensation impact on the internal wall fabric and giving a positive improvement in energy saving and resident comfort
